In 2024, the Software.com.br team participated in the Chaos Partner Day in Sofia, Bulgaria. Among the various illustrious names present at the event, we have the opportunity to attend the presentation of Jens Majdal Kaarsholm, Technology Director of Design do BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, one of the two most famous and world-renowned architecture studios. The lecture was extremely inspiring, showing how a great desk uses technology to create narratives of design and products that result in contemporary, beautiful and sustainable buildings. Everything is at a crucial moment, marked by extreme climatic events, discussions about global warming, control of stove exhaust gas emissions and advances in artificial intelligence.
The objective of this post is to present some of the history of Bjarke Ingels Group, um two most influential names in current architecture, and how they are molding the future of design with innovative ideas and sustainable solutions.
Quem é o Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG)?
Founded in 2005 by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, or BIG quickly became one of the two most respected architectural desks in the world. Its unique approach combines creativity, functionality and sustainability, resulting in projects that transcend conventional architecture. O BIG is not limited to creating visually impressive buildings; We are looking for solutions that respond to the social and environmental challenges of our era.
Iconic projects
Among the most emblematic projects of BIG, we highlight:
- 8 House (Copenhagen, Denmark): A complex that integrates housing, desks and commerce, designed to promote community life and social interaction.
- Amager Bakke (Copenhagen, Denmark): An energy plant that transforms water into clean energy and still has a ski slope on its roof, becoming an example of how urban infrastructure can be functional and recreational.
- Google HQ (Mountain View, USA): Google's headquarters were designed to maximize the creativity and efficiency of its employees, reflecting the company's innovative culture.
- LEGO House (Billund, Denmark): The Lego House is an iconic building designed for Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). Opened in 2017, LEGO House is a space dedicated to creativity, learning and celebration of the LEGO universe. It was conceived as a “physical jumping experience,” where visitors from all walks of life can explore, learn and be inspired. (Billund, is the city where LEGO was founded in 1932).

These projects illustrate BIG's ability to unite functionality, visual impact and a strong commitment to sustainability.
The role of technology
During Chaos Partner Day, Jens Majdal Kaarsholm I highlight how BIG uses tools like V-Ray and Chaos Enscape to create high quality and immersive renderings. These technologies allow clients and stakeholders to visualize projects even in the initial phase, facilitating the communication of complex ideas in a clear and impactful way. The use of these tools not only enhances the creative process, but also increases the efficiency and precision of two projects.
Além disso, or BIG tem explored technologies such as artificial intelligence and impression 3D to optimize your design processes. Artificial intelligence is used to analyze complex data and provide innovative solutions, while 3D printing allows for the creation of fast and accurate prototypes, accelerating the development and validation of concepts.
BIG and sustainability
As awareness of the climate emergency increases, BIG is at the forefront of incorporating sustainable solutions into its projects. Seja by the use of ecological materials, integration of renewable energy or technological innovations, or BIG demonstrates that it is possible to create buildings that only function as they are environmentally responsible. They prove that architecture can be a positive force in the fight against climate change.
Participating in Chaos Partner Day in Sofia was an enriching experience for the Software.com.br team. Seeing how desks like BIG use advanced technologies to transform ideas into reality was a great source of inspiration. EITHER Bjarke Ingels Group It is a brilliant example of how architecture can shape the future in a creative, functional and sustainable way.
We are encouraged to share this experience and hope to continue supporting our clients with technological solutions that drive creativity and innovation in their projects. The architecture of the future is no longer being written, but BIG is leading the way.
